Abstract
As an orality product, proverbs, keep its continuity in the written culture as well. But it is possible to say that a process of reproduction puts the preserved patterns of proverbs into modern city folklore. This study discusses on a Turkish proverb "sakla samani gelir zamani" (means keeping something for a later date), how it is perceived by Sourtimes Web-site users. Also included that if the proverbs project the character of society or not. It will be discussed the effects of making parodies of proverbs to orality in the context of effects of written culture on orality with the examples of variants reproducted by that proverb.
