Abstract

Today, a considerable number of studies are being carried out in the field of housing design. Among those, however, the number of studies pertaining to the inner organizations of housing designs do not seem to be adequate. In this specific study, problematic issues of furniture adaptation to housing schemes have been dealt with and it is claimed that the discipline of interior design should effectively be integrated into the decision making process of housing design. Along this line, the built-in furniture examples of traditional Turkish house and Le Corbusier's Modulor concept have been investigated. Further, the relation between user (urbanized family) and the furniture layouts of housing been touched upon following which a number of design proposals in the form of patterns are presented.
