Elazığ Kız Enstitüsü

Bu çalışma 1930’lu yılların sonunda açılan Elazığ Kız Enstitüsü üzerinden Cumhuriyet dönemi Türk eğitim sisteminin ilerleyişi ve okulların yeni bir ulus ve devlet inşasındaki rollerini ele almıştır. Elazığ Kız Enstitüsü’nün açılması, amaçları, faaliyetleri ve öğrenci profilleri araştırılmıştır. Elazığ Kız Enstitüsü’nün Cumhuriyetin ilanıyla birlikte Doğu ve Güneydoğu’da yaşayan Kürt ve kısmen Arap nüfusun Türkleştirilmesi ve bölgede Türkçe dil eğitimine verilen önemin artırılması amacıyla nasıl eğitim verdiği incelenmiştir. Tüm bu eğitimlerin kişiler üzerindeki etkileri de ele alınmış olup bu incelemeler yapılırken Enstitüde görev yapan müdürler ve öğretmenlerin anıları ve hayatları incelenmiştir. Özellikle Elazığ Kız Enstitüsü ile alakalı Cumhuriyet arşivleri ve uzun süre Enstitünün müdürü olarak görev yapan Sıdıka Avar’ın anılarına yer verilmiştir. Elazığ Kız Enstitüsünden 1943 yılında mezun olan Lütfiye Süzer ve Enstitü ile ilgili detaylı araştırmalar ve görüşmeler yapmış olan Elif Akşitle röportajlar yapılmıştır. Enstitünün günümüzde ve günümüze kadar olan süreçte hangi isim ve amaçla eğitim vermeye devam ettiği de ele alınmıştır.

This study examines the progress of the Turkish education system in the Republican period and the role of schools in building a new nation and state through the Elazig Girls' Institute, which was opened at the end of the 1930s. The opening of Elazig Girls' Institute, its aims, activities, and student profiles have been researched. It has been examined how the Elazig Girls' Institute, with the proclamation of the Republic, gave education in order to Turkify the Kurdish and partially Arab population living in the East and Southeast and to increase the importance given to the Turkish language education in the region. The effects of all these trainings on people were also discussed, and the memories and lives of the principals and teachers working at the Institute were examined while these studies were being carried out. In particular, the archives of the Republic related to the Elazig Girls' Institute and the memories of Sıdıka Avar, who served as the director of the Institute for a long time, are included. Interviews were conducted with Lütfiye Süzer, who graduated from Elazığ Girls' Institute in 1943, and Elif Akşit, who had done detailed research and interviews about the Institute. The name and purpose of the institute that continues to provide education today and in the process until today is also researched.
