dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract1805’te Mısır’a vali olarak atanan Mehmet Ali Paşa’dan sonra torunu Abbas Hilmi Paşa da Mısır valisi olmuştur ve torununa Dalaman ovasını miras bırakmıştır. Abbas Hilmi Paşa’nın Dalaman’a bir inşaat yaptırmak istemesi üzerine Mısır’dan inşaatın yapımı için Dalaman’a işçiler gelmiştir. Bu işçilerin bir kısmı Mısır’a geri dönmüş, bir kısmı ise Dalaman’da kalmayı tercih etmiştir.öncelikle bu çalışmada Mısır valisi Mehmet Ali Paşa ve Abbas Hilmi Paşa’nın Osmanlı dönemindeki konumlarına değinilmiştir. Daha sonrasında işçilerin Dalaman’a yerleşmesiyle birlikte gerçekleşen uyum süreci, özellikle Abbas Hilmi Paşa’nın yaveri olan ve Dalaman’a inşaat vesilesiyle göç eden Ahmet Siva ve ailesi üzerinden anlatılmıştır. Son olarak da göçün sonraki nesilleri ve özellikle şu an hâlâ Dalaman’da yaşamakta olan neslin yaşamını nasıl etkilediğine değinilmiştir.en_US
