The Bulgarian Turks, the most populous minority example living in Bulgaria, were subjected to various pressures at certain intervals in the 20th century and attempted to be assimilated. Between 1949-1959 and 1984-1989 respectively, the degree of this repression increased from then to the next. Concentration camps for inhuman treatment were established by the Bulgarian Government. These assimilation policies were forced to immigrate Bulgarian Turks especially in 1950 and 1989. Given the simple policies of these Bulgarian Turks and the experiences of Halil Yücel and Ahmet Yücetürk, two former Belene Camp prisoners who personally experienced the 1989 immigration, the Bulgarian Turks and the 1989 migration were described.en_US
