dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

dc.description.abstract | Sigaranın medya ile olan ilişkisi ve bununla paralel olarak halka sunuluşu yıllar içinde çok büyük değişiklikler göstermiştir. Bu köklü farklılıklardan faydalanarak dönemin medyaya, medyanın da halka nasıl yön verdiğini inceleyebilmek mümkündür. Bu araştırmada dönemin koşullarını ve maruz kaldıkları medya sigara politikalarını bizzat aktarabilmeleri için özellikle seçilen üç farklı kuşaktan insan ile röportaj yapılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra markaların ve devletlerin yapmış olduğu sigara ile ilgili pazarlama stratejilerinin görüldüğü haber kaynaklarından, yasaklar üzerine yapılan anlaşmalardan da yararlanılmıştır. Bütün bu verilerin ışığında gerçekleşen araştırmamızda, farklı dönemlerin şartlarını inceleyerek sigaranın medya üzerinden halkın bilinçaltında nasıl izler bıraktığını ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmıştır. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The relationship of cigarettes with the media and, in parallel with this, its presentation to the public has changed tremendously over the years. By investigating these radical differences, it is possible to examine how the period directed the media and the media to the public. In this research, interviews were conducted with people from three different generations, who were specially selected so that they could personally convey the conditions of the period and the media policies they were exposed to. In addition, the marketing strategies of brands and governments regarding cigarettes and agreements on prohibitions were also used. Our research, which was carried out in the light of all these data, aims to reveal how cigarettes leave traces in the public's subconscious through the media by examining the conditions of different periods. | en_US |
