dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu araştırma, Ankara'da Japonca eğitiminin 1980'lerden sonraki gelişimini konu almaktadır. Bu bağlamda Ankara'da Japonca eğitimi veren Ankara Üniversitesi, Türk-Japon Vakfı ve TÖMER incelenmiştir. TÖMER'in kuruluşu ve gelişimini incelemek için TÖMER'de yıllarca Japonca Eğitimi veren Füsun Başaran ile röportaj yapılmıştır. Ayrıca, bu kurumların Ankara'nın sosyal yaşamına ve Japoncadan direkt çevirilere olan katkıları da incelenmiştir.
dc.description.abstractThis study, aims to investigate the development of the Japanese education in Ankara after the 80's. To realize this study, establishments in Ankara providing Japanese education such as Ankara University, Turkish-Japanese Foundation, and TÖMER were examined. To further scrutinize the foundation and development of TÖMER, an interview with Füsun Başaran, who taught Japanese in TÖMER for many years, was conducted. Furthermore, contributions of these establishments to the social life in Ankara and to the direct translations from Japanese to Turkish were studied.
