A new period of Turkish cinema began in the 1970’s, referred to as the Yesilcam Sex Influx, infamous for its hastily made, cheap, and lower quality film. This period, where erotic films dominated the Turkish film market, ended with the coup of September the 12th 1980, following a series of tighter regulations and strict censorship. Despite relative lack of participation in this period of cinema by prominent members of the film industry, a vast supply of films were produced at this time. Focusing on the perspectives of witnesses, participants, and critics of this period of Turkish cinema, this paper aims to shed a light on the Yesilcam Sex Influx and the myriad comments and critiques surrounding it.en_US
