Abstract
This discussion is based on recorded conversations with Aşik Mensubî concerning his father Aşik Meydanî. This material is used to discuss the evolution of the âşik tradition in the contexts of the relatively conservative milieu of the city of Kayseri and the patronage of the Turkish goverment.
