dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractşanlıurfa’nın Halfeti ilçesinde yaşamakta olan özen Ailesi, evlerinin bahçelerinde birden fazla meyve sebze tarımı yapar, bunları bazen pazarda satar bazense kendi yiyecek ihtiyacı için tüketirdi. Fakat bu aileyi diğer ailelerden farklı kılan şey, Halfeti’nin sembolü olan karagülü ülkemize getirmeleri ve karagülün tarımını yapmalarıydı. Ne yazık ki, 1985 yılında yapımına başlanmış olan Birecik Barajı’nın 2000 yılında su tutması ve bir çok yerleşim yerinin sular altında kalması, hem özen Ailesi’nin hem de Halfeti’nin yerel halkının hayatlarının değişimesine sebep oldu. Bu değişimin izlerine birebir tanıklık eden özen Ailesi’nin sosyal, psikolojik ve ekonomik durumlarında ki değişimler araştırmamızın kapsamında yer almaktadıren_US
dc.description.abstractözen Family who lived in şanlıurfa, Halfeti was engaged in agriculture. In their huge garden, they cultivated a plenty amount of fruits and vegetables. Those receipts were either used for making food or sold in markets for money. The most considerable point that özen Family had was, they were the first Family who introduce karagül, black rose, into Turkey. Unfortunately, in 1985 Birecik Dam was established and in 2000, the dam was overflow. As a result of this, many places in Halfeti had been submerged under water. The alternation of Halfeti affected local people in terms of social, psychological and economic aspects and özen Family has witnessed that change. Their expression and memories will be the main topic of our paper.en_US
