dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractKonya Meram Yeniyol’da bulunan Özel Gündoğdu Koleji 1982 yılında Türkiye’nin yedinci, Konya’nın ise ilk Türk kökenli özel okulu olarak faaliyete geçmiştir. Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde gelişmekte olan eğitim süreci ve 80’li yıllarda mevcut olan neoliberal ekonomik politikalar okul ve öğrenci sayısında bir artışa vesile olmuş ancak özel okulların sayısı yine de nispeten sınırlı kalmıştır. Dönemin kısıtlı koşullarında kurulmuş olan Gündoğdu Koleji, öğrencilere sağlamış olduğu eğitim fırsatlarıyla zaman içerisinde yerini sağlamlaştırmıştır. 54 senedir eğitime devam eden Gündoğdu Koleji’nin kuruluş aşaması, öğretmen kadrosu, eğitim politikası göz önüne alınarak kapsamlı bir araştırma yapılmıştır. Bu araştırma ile özel okulun gelişim süreci incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractPrivate Gündoğdu College, located in Konya Meram Yeniyol, became operational in 1982 as Turkey's seventh and Konya's first Turkish-origin private school. The developing education process in the Republican Period and the neoliberal economic policies in the 1980s led to an increase in the number of schools and students. However, the number of private schools was still relatively limited. Despite the era’s limited conditions, Gündoğdu College consolidated its place due to the educational opportunities provided to its students. Comprehensive research has been done regarding Gündoğdu College’s, which has been continuing its education for 54 years, establishment, teaching staff, and educational policy. Overall, the development process of this private school is investigated in this research.en_US
