dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

dc.description.abstract | Cumhuriyet’in ilanı ile birlikte Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin himayesi altındaki bütün bölgelere eğitim olanaklarını ulaştırmaya yönelik çalışmalar başlamıştır. Bu çalışmaların bir sonucu olarak, 1940 yılında “Köy Enstitüleri” kurulmuştur. Hizmet verdiği 14 sene boyunca, Anadolu’nun dört bir tarafında, binlerce öğrenci, aydın birer eğitim insanı olarak Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ne kazandırılmıştır. Köy enstitülerinde yetişen binlerce öğrenci, Anadolu’nun köylerinin modernleşmesi ve halkın bilinçlenmesi için emek vermişlerdir. Bu yazımızda, çocukluğunu ve ilkokul hayatını Bayır Köyü’nde geçirip, Aksu Köy Enstitüsü’nde eğitim hayatını sürdüren ve daha sonra mezun olan Cafer Mete’nin hayatı ele alınmaktadır. Köy enstitüsünde okumuş ve orada benimsenen eğitim modelini ve bu modelin Anadolu köylerine katkısını yakından gözlemleyen Cafer Mete ile röportaj yapılarak okul yıllarını ve okuldan sonraki hayatı da anlatılmıştır. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | With the proclamation of the Turkish Republic, studies have started to provide educational opportunities to all regions under the auspices of the Republic of Turkey. As a result of these studies, "Village Institutes" were established in 1940. Thousands of students from all over Anatolia were brought to the Republic of Turkey as intellectual, educated people during the 14 years it served. Thousands of students educated in village institutes have worked for the modernization of the villages of Anatolia and to raise the awareness of the people. In this article, the life of Cafer Mete, who spent his childhood and primary school life in the village of Bayır, continued his education life in Aksu Village Institute and later graduated, is discussed. An interview was made with Cafer Mete, who studied at the village institute and closely observed the education model adopted there and the contribution of this model to Anatolian villages, and his school years and his life after school were also explained. | en_US |
