This study aims at analyzing filmic space in Turkish melodrama films that were influential between 1960-1975. In order to map the theoretical framework for such a study, different^ approaches to filmic space are reviewed and discussed. Among these approaches, some focus on the formal aspects of filmic space, regarding mise-en-scene, editing and sound. On the other hand, another group of researchers deal with the cultural and ideological preferences influencing representation of space. In the thesis, the Turkish melodrama is evaluated in terms of both approaches.en_US
