dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada Demir ailesinin 1971 yılında Bulgaristan'dan Türkiye'ye yaptığı göçün nedenleri ve sonrasındaki sürecin ailenin yaşantısına etkileri, dönemin Bulgaristan hükümetinin azınlıkta olan Türklere karşı uyguladığı politikalar ve Bulgaristan-Türkiye ilişkileri ışığında incelenmiştir. Ailenin göç öncesi ve sonrası yaşamı politik, ekonomik, dini, eğitimsel, sosyal ve kültürel bakımdan araştırılmış ve elde edilen bulgular kıyaslanarak göç sebebinin daha açık ve anlaşılır şekilde ortaya konması hedeflenmiştir.
dc.description.abstractIn this study, the underlying reasons for the migration of Demir family from Bulgaria to Turkey in 1971, and the impacts of the migration on this family are analyzed in the light of the policies implemented by the Bulgarian government to the Turkish citizens in theminority, and the relations between Bulgaria and Turkey in that period. Pre-immigration daily life experiences of the family are compared to the post-immigration experiences in political, economic, religious, educational, social, and cultural regards targeted to lay the reasons behind the migration bare.
