dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu makale, Türk eğitim sisteminde yadsınamaz bir yer tutan özel okulların 1980-2000 yılları arasında Ankara'da gösterdiği faaliyetlerin incelenmesi üzerine yazılmış olup özel okulların sosyal ve akademik başarılarının yanı sıra velilerin özel okullara ilgisinin incelenmesi ve ayrıca devletin özel okullara olan tutumunu da içermektedir. Bu bağlamda, belirtilen yıllar arasında Ankara'da faaliyet gösteren özel okulların yine belirttiğimiz faktörler çerçevesinde değerlendirerek günümüz Türk eğitim sisteminin geçirdiği süreçlerin bir kısmını ve Türkiye genelinde özel okulların ne şekilde bir etki yarattığını da incelemiş olduk.
dc.description.abstractThis paper mainly focuses on private schools' practices which cannot be ignored in Turkish education system between the years of 1980 and 2000. In addition to the examination of the social and academic practices, there are also interpretations and examinations about the perception of families and state towards private schools. In this context, we were able to analyze the effects of private schools, which have practiced between the specified years, on a part of the process of Turkish education system over years and private schools' country wide effects considering the factors that we have mentioned.
