This study aims at investigating the last eight feature films of the British filmmaker, Peter Greenaway, with regard to the cinematic representation. As opposed to the cinematic representation suggested by the principles and conventions of dominant cinema Greenaway’s films, which are based on a questioning of those principles and conventions and on a search for alternative forms of cinematic representation, are considered to be ‘sentences on cinema’ and investigated within the context of dominant and counter cinematic practices.en_US
