dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAnadolu’da kurulmuş en eski lise olan Abdurrahmanpaşa Lisesi’nin ünlü müdürü İsmail Dönmez otuz iki yıl boyunca bu görevi yaptı. Dönmez disiplinli ve otoriter yapısı ile meşhur oldu. İsmail Dönmez Abdurrahmanpaşa Lisesi mezunuydu. Müdürlüğü boyunca, lise akademideki ve spordaki başarıları ile bilindi. Şubat 2021’de vefat eden İsmail Dönmez Kastamonu genelinde tanınan bir figür oldu. Bu çalışmada, İsmail Dönmez’in hayatını odağa alarak, müdürlüğü sırasındaki başarılar, başarısızlıklar, otoriter yapısı, disiplin anlayışı, lise müdürlüğü dışında yaptıkları ve kişiliği incelenecektir.en_US
dc.description.abstractİsmail Dönmez, the famous principal of Abdurrahmanpaşa High School, the oldest high school established in Anatolia, held this position for thirty-two years. Dönmez became famous for his disciplined and authoritarian nature. Dönmez, who is also a graduate of Abdurrahmanpaşa High School, has achievements both in academia and sport in the high school throughout his directorship. İsmail Dönmez, who passed away in February 2021, became a well-known figure in Kastamonu. In this study, focusing on İsmail Dönmez's life, his successes and failures, his authoritarian structure, his discipline understanding, what he did outside the high school principalship, and his personality will be examined.en_US
