dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada 1989 yılında Bulgaristan Kırcaali şehrinden Türkiye İnegöl ilçesine zorunlu olarak göç eden Çakıroğlu ailesinin göç süreci ve bu süreci tetikleyen politik ve sosyolojik nedenler incelenmiştir. Göç öncesi ve sonrası dönem, Türk ve Bulgar devletlerinin göçteki rolü ve bu ülkelerin yerli halklarının dönemin olaylarına bakış açısı Çakıroğlu ailesinin perspektifinden anlaşılmaya ve aktarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Tarihin önemli bir olgusu olan zorunlu göçün bireyler ve aileler üzerindeki etkisini incelemek adına ailenin deneyimleri incelenmiş, anlaşılmaya çalışılmış ve araştırılmaya değer görülmüştür.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this study, the migration process of Cakiroglu family and political and social backgrounds of the migration from Kircaali to Inegol have been discussed. Both pre and post migration era, Turkish and Bulgarian Governments’ attitudes and public perception in Turkey and Bulgaria have been held through Cakiroglu Family’s perspective. As forced migration is a crucial point of human history, its effects on individuals and families have been tried to be understood through family’s experiences.en_US
