dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu araştırma Hatay ilinde bulunan Amik Gölü'nün kurutulma sürecini; sosyal, ekonomik, etkilerini ortaya koymaktadır. Türkiye coğrafyasında önemli bir konumda bulunması, geçmişte ekolojik olarak büyük bir çevreye sahip olması ve kaybolan ekolojik hayat ve biyoçeşitlilik göz önüne alındığında ülke ve doğa adına önemli bir konu olması açısından araştırmaya değer bir konudur. Araştırma Amik Gölü'nün kurutulma sürecini ve kurutulduktan sonrasındaki etkilerin bölgeye nasıl yansıdığını istatistikler ve halkın görüşleriyle ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Yazı, Amik Gölü'nün kurutulmasıyla daralan ekonomik faaliyetlere, fiziki ortamda meydana gelen değişimler sonucu oluşan tarımsal değişimlere değiniyor ve bu bağlamda doğal kaynaklar hakkında uzun vadeli kararlar alınmadığını gösteriyor.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis research covers the artificial drying process of Lake Amik in Hatay; reveals its social, economic, effects. It is important in terms of being in an significant position in the geography of Turkey, having a large ecological environment in the past, and losing this ecological life and biodiversity is an important issue for the country and nature. The aim of the research is to reveal the drying process of Lake Amik and how the effects after drying are reflected on the region with statistics and public opinions. The article shows the shrinking economic activities with the drying of Amik Lake and the decline in agriculture as a result of changes in the physical environment, and in this context, long-term decisions are not taken about natural resources.en_US
