dc.description.abstractThis study aims at analyzing the transition to multiparty politics which has been realized under very difficult conditions. This transition from single-party to a multi-party political system can also be defined as a study of the transition to democracy in Turkey. The period under scrutiny is 1945-1950. Also the external and internal forces which were important in the realization of this process, the setting up of the Democratic Party, and its founders, the political atmosphere of the time, and the triumph of the DP in 1950 are analyzed. ABSTRACT In short it can be said that the subject matter of this study is the transition to democracy in Turkey.en_US
