A migration movement was initiated because Slavic and non-Slavic Muslims were divided into two different groups within the specific borders of Yugoslavia. Non-Slavic Muslims were not seen as "real" Yugoslav citizens and many prohibitions were imposed on non-Slavic Yugoslav citizens that negatively affected their lives. With the Free Migration Agreement signed between Yugoslavia and Turkey, many Muslim Turkish citizens, who could not live the life they wanted in Yugoslavia and were becoming more assimilated day by day, migrated from Yugoslavia to Turkey, mainly to Istanbul. One of the families that migrated was the family of Münevver Alataş. This family, which faced many difficulties in Yugoslavia and was tortured by the Serbs, finally decided to migrate from Yugoslavia to Turkey. This article talks about how Münevver Alataş's family lived in Yugoslavia, how they decided to migrate, what they experienced during migration, and how they adapted to Turkey after coming to Turkey.
