Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun iskân politikası ile Bulgaristan’a yerleştirilen Türkler Bulgaristan’ın Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’ndan ayrılması ile birlikte yıllar boyu zorluklar yaşadı. 1980’li yıllarda tekrar nükseden dayatmalar ve asimilasyon politikaları bu makalede Çolakoğlu ailesi üzerinden ele alındı. 1984-1989 yılları arasında giderek şiddeti artan ve Bulgaristan Türkleri’nin günlük hayatlarını zorlaştıran asimilasyon politikaları, dönemin Devlet Konseyi Başkanı Todor Jivkov’un yaptığı açıklamayla birlikte Bulgaristan Türkleri’nin anavatana göç etmesi ile sonuçlandı. Çolakoğlu ailesinin 1989 Bulgaristan Göçü öncesinde yaşadıkları süreç, göç etmeleri ve Türkiye’ye yerleştikleri zaman karşılaştıkları tutumlar ile o dönemin sosyoekonomik durumu hakkında bilgilere ulaşılması hedeflendi.

The Turks, who were settled in Bulgaria with the settlement policy of the Ottoman Empire, experienced difficulties for years with the separation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman Empire. The recurrent impositions and assimilation policies in the 1980s were discussed in this article through the Çolakoğlu family. The assimilation policies, which increased in violence between 1984 and 1989 and made the daily life of the Bulgarian Turks difficult, resulted in the migration of Bulgarian Turks to the homeland, with the statement of the then State Council President Todor Jivkov. It was aimed to provide information about the process of the Çolakoğlu family before the 1989 Bulgarian Migration, their migration and the attitudes they faced when they settled in Turkey, and the socio-economic situation of that period.
