dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAmasra, Batı Karadeniz bölgesinde Bartın iline bağlı bir bölgedir. Yüzyıllarca farklı medeniyetlere ev sahipliği yapmış, verimli topraklara sahip olan bu bölgede günümüzde turizm faaliyetleri yürütülmektedir. 1940lı yıllarda başlayan Amasra’da turizmi canlandırma girişimlerine günümüzde teknolojinin de dahil olmasıyla yeni reklamcılık faaliyetleri eklenerek devam edilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 1950’lerden günümüze kadar olan süreçte Amasra’daki turizmi canlandırmak adına yapılan faaliyetleri araştırmak ve bu faaliyetleri hem sosyo-kültürel hem de sosyo-ekonomik bağlamda değerlendirmektir. Amasra’daki turizmin şehrin ekonomisine sağladığı yararlar göz önüne serilirken, aynı zamanda kentsel dönüşüme olan göz ardı edilemez etkileri anlatılacaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractAmasra is a district located in the west of the Black Sea (Karadeniz) region connected to the Bartın province. For centuries it has been home to many different civilizations with its fruitful soil, nowadays the tourism activity in the area stands out. The vitalization initiative of tourism which started in the 1940’s continues nowadays with new advertisement campaigns and the help of current day technology. The goal of this paper is to research the activities that have been initiated since 1950’s in order to revitalize tourism in Amasra and to evaluate these activities in a socio-cultural and socio-economical context. In this paper, the benefit of tourism in the city towards Amasra will be brought into view, as well as the undeniable impact of tourism towards urban transformation.en_US
