Abstract

This study explores the impacts of physical space, social space and ambiance characteristics of café environments on the preference as workplaces. A field study approach is used in this study and conducted with 134 participants who were studying at a café. Among cafés in Ankara, six cafés were selected as the case study to evaluate the influence of the physical space, social space and ambiance characteristics on the preference of cafes as workplaces. According to the results, the findings indicated that the productivity level, physical view, cleanliness level, security level, socialization level, and ambiance noise level have a positive effect on the preference of cafés as workplaces.
