dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractSeramik, genellikle toprak elementleri, kil ve su karıştırılarak şekillendirilen ve bazen süslendirilen çeşitli eşyaların yüksek sıcaklıktaki fırınlarda pişirilmesiyle oluşur. 1960’lı yıllarda bu sanata merak saran, kendi imkanlarıyla tekniğini öğrenip geliştiren Mehmet Tüzüm Kızılcan, atölyeler kurmuş ve bu sanat dalında birçok eser vermiştir. Kızılcan, Çağdaş Türk Seramik Sanatı’nın 1960 ve 2000 yılları arasındaki değişimini yakından deneyimlemiş ve büyük ölçüde katkı sağlamıştır. Çağdaş Türk Seramik Sanatı’nın zaman içerisindeki değişimini anlamak açısından Mehmet Tüzüm Kızılcan’ın bu sanat dalındaki yerini ve işlerini incelemek, hayatını, sanatçı kişiliğini ve tecrübelerini araştırmak seramik sanatına bıraktığı etkiyi anlamak için oldukça faydalıdır.en_US
dc.description.abstractCeramic is formed by firing various items, which are shaped and sometimes decorated, usually by mixing earth elements, clay and water, in high-temperature kilns. Mehmet Tüzüm Kızılcan, who was interested in this art in the 1960s, learned and developed his technique with his own means, established workshops and produced many works in this branch of art. Kızılcan closely experienced the change of Contemporary Turkish Ceramic Art between 1960 and 2000 years and contributed to a great extent. In order to understand the change of Contemporary Turkish Ceramic Art over time, it is very useful to examine Mehmet Tüzüm Kızılcan's place and works in this branch of art, and to investigate his life, artist personality and experiences, to understand the impact he left on the art of ceramics.en_US
