dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract19 Şubat 1911 tarihinde İstanbul’da dünyaya gelen Fatma Müfide İlhan, mareşal bir babanın ve ev hanımı bir annenin çocuğudur. Eğitim ve öğrenim yılları Ankara ve İstanbul’da geçmiştir. Öğretmenlik diplomasıyla mezun olmuştur. İlk evliliğinde eşinin tayini sonucu Almanya’ya gitmiştir. İkinci evliliğinde ise doktor eşinin Afganistan’a tayininin çıkması sebebiyle, onunla birlikte giderek gönüllü öğretmen olarak çalışmıştır. Türkiye’ye döndükten sonra siyasete atılmıştır. Demokrat Parti’nin üyesi olan Müfide İlhan, 1950 seçimlerinde Mersin belediye başkanı seçilmiştir. 1951 yılında ise partideki iç çatışmalar dolayısıyla görevden ayrılmıştır. Parti ile olan ilişiğini kestikten sonra birçok kurumda yer almıştır. 1996 yılında kalp krizi sonucu vefat etmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractFatma Müfide İlhan is the child of a field marshal father and a housewife mother who was born on February 19, 1911 in Istanbul. Her education and training years were spent in Ankara and Istanbul. She graduated with a teaching diploma. In his first marriage, she went to Germany as a result of the appointment of her husband. In her second marriage, her husband was appointed to Afghanistan since he was a doctor, and Müfide İlhan went there and worked as a volunteer teacher. After returning to Turkey, she entered politics. Müfide İlhan, who was a member of the Democrat Party, was elected as the mayor of Mersin in the 1950 elections. In 1951, she left office due to internal conflicts in the party. After she cut her relationship with the party, she took part in many institutions. She died of a heart attack in 1996.en_US
