dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractGrafik tasarım sanatı günümüzün önemli iletişim yöntemleri arasındadır. Osmanlıya uzansa da Türk grafik tasarım sanatının tam olarak bir devrim yaşaması ve zincirini kırıp gelişmeye başlaması geç olmuştur. Bu yazıda öncelikli olarak Türk grafik sanatının geçmişten günümüze gelişimi anlatılmıştır. Sonrasında, Grafik tasarımın Osmanlının son dönemlerindeki ve Cumhuriyetten sonraki süreçte halka, akademiye etkisi ve özellikle günümüzde nasıl bir teknolojik değişime uğradığı ele alınmıştır. Son olarak ise üniversite söz konusu olduğunda adı önemli bir yer tutan Bilkent’in grafik tasarım bölümü ve tarihi anlatılmıştır. Bilkent’in Türkiye adına grafik tasarımdaki yeri ve önemi açıklanarak yazı sonlandırılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractGraphic design has important communication methods in today's architecture. Although it extended to the Ottoman Empire, it was late for Turkish graphic design to experience a full revolution and break its chain and begin to develop. In this article, the development of Turkish graphic art from past to present is explained as a priority. Then, the effect of graphic design on the public and academia in the last beginning of the Ottoman Empire and the period after the Republic, and how it has undergone a technological change especially today are discussed. Finally, the graphic design department and its history of Bilkent, which has an important place in terms of university, are explained. The article was concluded by explaining the place and importance of Bilkent in graphic design on behalf of Turkey.en_US
