dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBuhurcu aşireti, Afyonkarahisar bölgesinin özellikle 20. yüzyılın ilk çeyreğindeki tarihini fazlasıyla etkilemiştir. Özellikle bölgedeki Kuvayı Milliye hareketine olan katkıları ve bölgedeki önemli bir güç odağı olan Koca Mustafa ile yaşadıkları çatışmalarının Afyonkarahisar bölgesini etkilediği savunulabilir. Bu araştırmanın amacı Buhurcu aşiretinin bu aktivitelerini belgelemek, Buhurcuların bu dönemde sürdürdüğü efelik ve yörük geleneklerinin incelenmesidir. Bu aktiviteler Afyonkarahisar bölgesinde bu zaman diliminde aktif olan Koca Musatafa, İnce Memed gibi kişilere de değinilerek incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe Buhurcu tribe has greatly affected the history of Afyonkarahisar during the first quarter of 20th century. Especially considering their contributions to the Kuvayı Milliye movement and their shirmishes with Koca Mustafa, another powerful faction in the region, they can be considered influential in the Afyonkarahisar region. The purpose of this research is to document said activities and explore the efe and nomad traditions of the Buhurcu. These activities will be analyzed using persons of interest such as Koca Mustafa and İnce Memed.en_US
