dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractMakalede Onur Öymen’in NATO daimi temsilciliği döneminde Türkiye’nin NATO’daki konumu değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca Onur Öymen üzerinden Türkiye’nin NATO üzerinde yürüttüğü politikalar ve NATO’nun bu politikalara yönelik eylemleri makalede anlatılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra araştırma, Onur Öymen’in, NATO daimi temsilciliği sırasında Türkiye ve NATO arasında yaşanan; gerilim, kriz ve anlaşmazlıkları nasıl ele aldığını da kapsamaktadır. Makalede, Onur Öymen aracılığıyla, NATO’nun Türkiye’ye askeri, siyasi ve mali desteği ve Türkiye ile diğer NATO üyeleri arasındaki işbirliğini ortaya koymuştur. Bu makalenin genel amacı, Onur Öymen’in NATO misyonu aracılığıyla NATO daimi temsilcisi olduğu yıllarda (1998-2002) Türkiye’nin NATO ile ilişkileri hakkında bilgi vermektir.
dc.description.abstractThe article evaluates Turkey's position in NATO during Onur Öymen's tenure as the Permanent Representative to NATO. It also discusses Turkey's policies within NATO and NATO's actions in response to these policies, focusing on Onur Öymen. Furthermore, the research encompasses how Onur Öymen handled tensions, crises, and disagreements between Turkey and NATO during his term as the Permanent Representative. Through Onur Öymen, the article reveals NATO's military, political, and financial support to Turkey, as well as the cooperation between Turkey and other NATO members. The article also focuses on relations of Turkey-European Union. The overall aim of this article is to provide information about Turkey's relations with NATO during the years when Onur Öymen served as the Permanent Representative (1998- 2002).
