Türkiye’nin siyaset kazanında kaynayan kurum: Sümerbank (1970- 1990)

Siyasi depremlerin sarsıntıları özellikle 12 Eylül Darbesi ile Sümerbank’ı geri dönülmez bir yola sokmuştur. Bu yıllarda süregelen Sağ-Sol çatışmasının yanı sıra cinsiyetçilik de fabrikaların işleyişine ket vurmuştur. Bir zamanlar çalışanların cennetten bir köşe olarak tanımladığı meşhur sosyal tesisler çürümeye terk edilmiş ve düzenlenen Avrupa tarzı etkinlikler 12 Eylül Darbesi ile bıçak gibi kesilmiştir. Hükümetten farklı düşünen fabrika çalışanları Doğu illerine sürülürken hükümet destekçisi liyakatsız müdürler koltuk kapma yarışına girmiş ve Sümerbank’ın yavaş ve hüzünlü çöküşünü hızlandırmıştır.
