The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) entered into a rapid process of disintegration in the 1980s. The last president, Mikhail Gorbachev, tried to prevent corruption by showing his best resistance, but his attempts failed, and the USSR was officially corrupted in 1991. The fall of the USSR was a historic turning point for the Turkish Republics in Central Asia. Countries encouraged by the problems in the USSR began to declare their independence. 15 countries that gained their independence had a profound impact on regional politics and they thought of taking Turkey as a role model. Turkey has taken an active role in the recognition of these countries’ independence, and various cultural, economic, and political relations have been established between these countries and Turkey since 1991.en_US
