dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractÇoğu devlette olduğu gibi Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nde de ülkeyi geriye düşüren darbe ve darbe girişimleri gerçekleşmiştir. 1980’de gerçekleştirilen 12 Eylül Darbesi de Türkiye için önemli bir kırılma noktasıdır. Devletin siyasi ve sosyal hayatını derinden etkileyen bu olayın öncesinde ve sonrasında önemli rol oynayan insanlardan biri de Yılma Durak’tır. Bu makalede MHP teşkilatlanmasında eğitim esaslı görev almış, Abdi İpekçi suikastı ve Papa II. John’a yönelik suikast teşebbüsünden hüküm giyen Mehmet Ali Ağca’nın hapisten kaçırılması olayında da ismi geçen Yılma Durak’ın kişisel ve siyasi yaşamı incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAs in most states, coups and coup attempts have taken place in the Republic of Turkey, which brought the country back. The September 12 Coup in 1980 was also an important breaking point for Turkey. Yılma Durak is one of the people who played an important role before and after this event, which deeply affected the political and social life of the state. In this article, he took part in the organization of the MHP on the basis of education, the assassination of Abdi İpekçi and Pope II. The personal and political life of Yılma Durak, whose name was mentioned in the abduction of Mehmet Ali Ağca, who was convicted of the assassination attempt against John, was also examined.en_US
