The life of Köprülü Fazıl Mustafa Pasha and his grand vizierate

The subject of the study is the life and the grand vizierate period of Koprulu Fazil Mustafa Pasha who belonged to eminent Koprulu family that provided many statesmen for the Ottoman Empire in the second half of the sisteenth century and in later periods. The purpose of this study was to illuminate the life of Koprulu Fazil Mustafa Pasha and his activities during the period of his grand vizierate. This thesis consists of three parts. The first chapter is the biography of Fazil Mustafa Pasha. The childhood years, the education and the activities of Fazil Mustafa Pasha before his grand vizierate were mentioned in this chapter. The second part is about the period of grand vizierate, his military activities during this period and the Austria campaigns. In this chapter the approach of Fazil Mustafa Pasha to the non muslim after he was appointed to grand vizierate. Afterwards information was given about his preparations for Austrian campaign. In the subnsequent chapters an attempt was made to clarify the first and the second expeditions. The third part is about the economic policy in the period of the grand vizierate of Fazil Mustafa Pasha. Lastly some reforms which were applied in his grand vizierate such as cizye, reform and monetary and narh transaction were mentioned as well as mukataas and tax farm system.
