| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

| dc.description.abstract | Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı Türkiye tarihinde iz bırakan olaylardan bir tanesidir. Mehmet Öztürk bir Kıbrıs gazisi olarak, adada geçen olaylara bizzat tanıklık etmiştir. Bu araştırmada Kıbrıs Barış Harekatı’nın hikayesi ve Mehmet Öztürk’ün gözünden Kıbrıs savaşı ele alınmıştır. Kıbrıs’ın önemi, harekâtın gelişim süreci, savaştan önceki yapısı ve dünya basınındaki yeri hakkında da bilgiler verilip Mehmet Öztürk’ün harekât sırasında başına gelen olaylara değinilmiştir. Birlikte yaşamakta olan Rum ve Türk tarafının nasıl birbiriyle savaşacak hale geldikleri, Mehmet Öztürk’ün savaşa katılma süreci işlenmiş, savaşın Mehmet Öztürk’ün hayatına olan etkisinden bahsedilmiştir. Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı sürecinin anlaşılmasında Mehmet Öztürk’ün izlenimlerini ve anılarını yapılan röportajda bizlerle paylaşması araştırmamızda kullandığımız en önemli kaynak olmuştur. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | The Cyprus Peace Operation is one of the events that left a trace in the history of Turkey. As a Cyprus veteran, Mehmet Öztürk personally witnessed the events on the island. In this research, the story of the Cyprus Peace Operation and the Cyprus war from Mehmet Öztürk's perspective are discussed. The importance of Cyprus, the development process of the operation, its structure before the war and its place in the world press were also given, and the events that happened to Mehmet Öztürk during the operation were mentioned. How the Greek and Turkish sides living together came to fight each other, the process of Mehmet Öztürk's participation in the war, and the effect of the war on Mehmet Öztürk's life are mentioned. Mehmet Öztürk's sharing his impressions and memories with us in the interview has been the most important source we used in our research in understanding the Cyprus Peace Operation process. | en_US |
