ODTÜ’nün işletmecilik disiplinini akademik düzeyde Türkiye’ye kazandırması ve Türkiye’nin işletme disiplinine karşı sahip olduğu tutum

ODTÜ’nün en fazla rağbet gören fakültelerinden biri olan İktisadi İdari Bilimler Fakültesi’nin eğitim-öğretim faaliyetlerine başlaması 1957 yılında gerçekleşmiştir. Öğrenci kapasitesi oldukça yüksek olmasına rağmen taban puanları ,ülkenin diğer devlet üniversitesi işletme bölümlerine nazaran, oldukça yüksek bir ÖSYM sınavı başarısı gerektirmektedir. Türkiye derecesi sahibi öğrencileri sayesinde ODTÜ işletme bölümü alanında başarılara sahip olmayı sürdürmektedir. ODTÜ İşletme Bölümü’nü diğer denklerinden ayıran en önemli özellik, işletmeyi akademik bir disiplin olarak Türkiye akademisine kazandırmış olmasıdır. Türkiye’de faaliyete giren ilk İşletme Bölümüne sahip olan ODTÜ İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi, alanda öncülük eden bir bölüm olarak Türkiye’de akademik anlamda işletme disiplininin temellerini atmıştır. Türkiye’deki ilk Teknokent’in ODTÜ’de bulunması sebebiyle işletme bilimini kuramsal olarak öğrenmekte olan öğrencilerine uygulama konusunda da imkan sağlayan ODTÜ İşletme Bölümü, toplumun işletme bölümüne karşı olan tutum ve bakış açısını olumlu yönde değiştirip etkilemiş bulunmaktadır.
