dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractDört bölümden oluşan bu makale, Yedikardeşler ailesinin 1984 yılında Bulgaristan’ın Kırcaali vilayetinden Türkiye’ye göç etme sürecini ele almaktadır. Makalenin ilk bölümünde Yedikardeşler ailesinin Kırcaali’deki yaşamı ve Bulgaristan hükümetinin Türk azınlıklar üzerindeki bask ıcı politikaları ile birlikte aileyi göçe iten sebeplere odaklanılmıştır. İkinci bölümde Yedikardeşler ailesinin göç sırasında yaşadığı olaylar ve karşılaştıkları zorluklar anlatılmaktadır. Üçüncü bölümde Yedikardeşler ailesinin iltica ve Türkiye’deki haya ta uyum sağlama süreci anlatılmaktadır. Yedikardeşler ailesinin günümüzdeki hayatında geçmişten kalan izlerin mercek altına alındığı son bölümde ise ailenin günümüzdeki hayatı ve geçmişteki hayatı arasındaki farklara odaklanılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractThis article, which consists of four parts, covers the migration process of the Yedikardeşler family from Kırcaali province of Bulgaria to Turkey in 1984. The first part of the article focuses on the life of the Yedikardeşler family in Kırcaali and the reasons for the migration of the family following the oppressive policies imposed on Turkish minorities. The second part recounts the events and difficulties through which the Yedikardeşler family went during the migration. The third p art tells of the Yedikardeşler family’s process of refuge and adaptation to life in Turkey. The last part, which examines the present day traces of the Yedikardeşler family’s past, focuses on the differences between the past life and the present life of the family.
