Item Open Access Algorithms and basis functions in tomographic reconstruction of ionospheric electron density(IEEE, 2005) Yavuz, E.; Arıkan, F.; Arıkan, Orhan; Erol, C. B.Computerized ionospheric tomography (CIT) is a method to investigate ionosphere electron density in two or three dimensions. This method provides a flexible tool for studying ionosphere. Earth based receivers record signals transmitted from the GPS satellites and the computed pseudorange and phase values are used to calculate Total Electron Content (TEC). Computed TEC data and the tomographic reconstruction algorithms are used together to obtain tomographic images of electron density. In this study, a set of basis functions and reconstruction algorithms are used to investigate best fitting two dimensional tomographic images of ionosphere electron density in height and latitude for one satellite and one receiver pair. Results are compared to IRI-95 ionosphere model and both receiver and model errors are neglected.Item Open Access Piecewise-planar 3D reconstruction in rate-distortion sense(IEEE, 2007-05) İmre, E.; Güdükbay, Uğur; Alatan, A. A.In this paper, a novel rate-distortion optimization inspired 3D piecewise-planar reconstruction algorithm is proposed. The algorithm refines a coarse 3D triangular mesh, by inserting vertices in a way to minimize the intensity difference between an image and its prediction. The preliminary experiments on synthetic and real data indicate the validity of the proposed approach.Item Open Access Range-doppler radar target detection using denoising within the compressive sensing framework(IEEE, 2014-09) Sevimli, R. Akın; Tofighi, Mohammad; Çetin, A. EnisCompressive sensing (CS) idea enables the reconstruction of a sparse signal from a small set of measurements. CS approach has applications in many practical areas. One of the areas is radar systems. In this article, the radar ambiguity function is denoised within the CS framework. A new denoising method on the projection onto the epigraph set of the convex function is also developed for this purpose. This approach is compared to the other CS reconstruction algorithms. Experimental results are presented1. © 2014 EURASIP.Item Open Access Rate-distortion based piecewise planar 3D scene geometry representation(IEEE, 2006) Imre, E.; Alatan, A.A.; Güdükbay, UğurThis paper proposes a novel 3D piecewise planar reconstruction algorithm, to build a 3D scene representation that minimizes the intensity error between a particular frame and its prediction. 3D scene geometry is exploited to remove the visual redundancy between frame pairs for any predictive coding scheme. This approach associates the rate increase with the quality of representation, and is shown to be rate-distortion efficient by the experiments. © 2007 IEEE.Item Open Access Sıkıştırılmış algılama kullanarak Uzaklık-Doppler radar hedef tespiti(IEEE, 2014-04) Sevimli, R. Akın; Tofighi, Mohammad; Çetin, A. EnisSıkıştırılmış algılama(SA) fikri, az sayıda ölçümlerden seyrek bir sinyalin geri çatımını mümkün kılar.
