Item Open Access Beware of the Wolves! the Turkish versus the European reception of Valley of the Wolves (2006)(Intellect, 2011-06) Smets, K.; K. Mutlu, D.; Winkel, R. V.Item Restricted Eshot genel müdürlüğünün kuruluşundan itibaren İzmir’de belediye bünyesine bağlı toplu taşımanın tarihi(Bilkent University, 2022) Bilir, Ece; Tağı, Nergis; İdemen, Gökay Yusuf Tulga; Başaran, Süleyman Yağız; Koçkan, Selçuk Efeİzmir’de demografik unsurların genişlemesiyle ortaya çıkan altyapı sorunların giderilmesi amacıyla teşkilatlanan belediyeye, yıllar içerisinde çeşitlenen, bazı yükümlülükler verilmişti. Item Open Access Manufacturer's mixed pallet design problem(Elsevier, 2008) Yaman, H.; Şen, A.We study a problem faced by a major beverage producer. The company produces and distributes several brands to various customers from its regional distributors. For some of these brands, most customers do not have enough demand to justify full pallet shipments. Therefore, the company decided to design a number of mixed or "rainbow" pallets so that its customers can order these unpopular brands without deviating too much from what they initially need. We formally state the company's problem as determining the contents of a pre-determined number of mixed pallets so as to minimize the total inventory holding and backlogging costs of its customers over a finite horizon. We first show that the problem is NP-hard. We then formulate the problem as a mixed integer linear program, and incorporate valid inequalities to strengthen the formulation. Finally, we use company data to conduct a computational study to investigate the efficiency of the formulation and the impact of mixed pallets on customers' total costs.Item Open Access A multi product loading problem: a model and a solution method(Elsevier, 1997) Yuceer, U.An important operational problem arises during the transportation and delivery of several products, which cannot be mixed, in the same vehicle at regular intervals. The vehicle has compartments to keep the products separately. Therefore, a scheme of allocation of compartments which we call vehicle loading problem to maximize the efficiency of the system while the demands for the products at the destination(s) are satisfied. A mixed binary model is developed for this multi-product loading problem. The solution method is based on simultaneously exploring the primal and dual structures derived from the Lagrangian relaxation. Subset sum problems are obtained as subproblems to the partial Lagrangian. An algorithm is developed and its convergence is proved. The efficiency of the method is demonstrated by running randomly chosen test problems. An initial solution finding method is also developed.Item Open Access Turkey, 1980-2000: financial liberalization, macroeconomic (in)stability, and patterns of distribution(Oxford University Press, 2007) Boratav, K.; Yeldan, E.This chapter examines the facts and processes characterizing the dynamic macroeconomic adjustments in Turkey since the start of its reforms toward global integration. The study is organized as follows. Section 2 focuses on the analytics of macro adjustments of the two distinct (i.e., 1980-1988/1989 and 1989-2000) phases of liberalization. Section 3 quantifies the macro adjustments via a set of decomposition exercises and traces the evolution of real output and sources of aggregate demand. Microlevel adjustments and related decomposition exercises, in turn, are investigated in Section 4 for the manufacturing sector. The distributional effects of liberalization of commodity trade and finance are summarized in Section 5, and Section 6 gives a conclusion. © Oxford University Press, 2013.
