Item Open Access The "gentle" evolution from traditional stories to novel(2008) Akdeniz, S.The novels that are the most important units of modern literature are likely to be continuation of oral storytelling which came to an existence by the need of listening and speaking. These stories told in different times and contexts are composed again for contemporary novels. Most typical examples are the ones which are about bandits and their society. In Turkish novel writing, Yas ̧ar Kemal is the one who carries the banner with his most beautiful samples of this type. While deciding on the theme of his first novel İnce Memed he is inspired from 'Köroǧlu' which is based on a worldwide popular theme "gentle bandit". There are noteworthy similarities between İnce Memed and Köroǧlu, however there are also differences as well. In this study the similarities and differences between two stories will be underlined, the evolution from traditional stories to novel will be shown and the fact why people are in need of creating such characters will be questioned.Item Open Access In the Temel Jokes "supporting actor Dursun"s role(2007) Akdeniz, S.Among literary studies, joke is one of the most common types in our daily life.
