dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST209) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAhmet Robenson lived a very interesting life in which he played a major role in introducing Turkey to the world of sports. His notable contributions include making the first Turkish basketball team, being the goalkeeper of Galatasaray and later becoming the president of the club, organizing the first tennis and hockey matches in his high school, and introducing the concept of scouting in Turkey along with his brother Abdurrahman Robenson. He was also involved in social and educational projects which aimed to strengthen cultural ties between the US and the new Republic of Turkey. This research paper aims to explore how he was able to make these contributions, what kind of life did he live, and why ended up leaving Turkey in his later years.en_US

İlk Türk basketbol takımını yapmak, Galatasaray'ın kalecisi olmak ve daha sonra kulüp başkanı olmak, lisesinde ilk tenis ve hokey maçlarını düzenlemek, kardeşi Abdurrahman ile Türkiye'de izcilik kavramını tanıtmak gibi önemli katkıları vardır. Robenson. ABD ile yeni Türkiye Cumhuriyeti arasındaki kültürel bağları güçlendirmeyi amaçlayan sosyal ve eğitici projelerde yer aldı. Bu araştırma makalesi, bu katkıları nasıl yaptığını, nasıl bir hayat yaşadığını ve daha sonraki yıllarda neden Türkiye'yi terk ettiğini araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır.en_US
