dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract1980 İhtilali öncesi Türkiye’deki siyasi kavgadan ötürü birçok fikir ayrılığı ve örgütlenmelere rastlanmıştır. Bu örgütlenmeler İstanbul Devlet Mühendislik ve Mimarlık Akademisi öğrencilerine de yansımıştır. Bu araştırmada o dönemde örgütlere mensup olmuş öğrencilerle yapılan röportajlardan, gazeteler ve akademik makaleler gibi çeşitli dokümanlardan faydalanılarak 1980 İhtilali öncesi İstanbul Devlet Mühendislik ve Mimarlık Akademisi öğrencilerinin sol örgütlenmeleri anlatılmıştır. O dönemde yaşamış olan öğrencilerden aktarılan bilgiler ve anılar, dönemin siyasi iklimini ve siyasi karmaşanın öğrencilere nasıl yansıdığını anlamakta, o yıllardaki sol örgütlenmelerinin gerekçesini ve tarihçesini anlamakta oldukça yararlı olmuştur.en_US
dc.description.abstractDue to the political fight in Turkey before the 1980 Revolution, many disagreements and organizations were encountered. These organizations were also reflected in the students of the Istanbul State Academy of Engineering and Architecture. In this research, the leftist organizations of the students of the Istanbul State Engineering and Architecture Academy before the 1980 Coup were explained by using interviews made with students who were members of organizations at that time, and various documents such as newspapers and academic articles. The information and memories conveyed by the students who lived in that period were beneficial in understanding the political climate of the period and how the political turmoil was reflected on the students, and in understanding the reason and history of the leftist organizations in those years.en_US
