dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract“Kuruluşundan Günümüze Kızılcahamam’daki Köy Dernekleri: Beşkonak Köyü örneği” adlı çalışmanın konusu Kızılcahamam’da 1960’lı yıllarda yoğun olarak gerçekleşen iç göçün ve sebeplerinin incelenmesi, Beşkonak Köyü örnek alınarak köy derneklerinin kuruluşu, faaliyetleri ve köy üzerindeki etkilerinin araştırılmasıdır. Bu çalışmada 1975 yılında kurulan, fakat resmi bir dernek olması ancak 2014 yılında mümkün olan Beşkonak Köyü Sosyal Yardımlaşma ve Dayanışma Derneği üzerinde araştırmalar yapılmış; derneğin kurucusu, şu anki başkanı ve de bir üyesiyle röportajlar yapılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, projenin amacı Beşkonak Köyü Derneği üzerinden köy derneklerinin çalışma prensiplerini incelemek, köy ve köylüyle olan etkileşimlerini ortaya koymak ve göçe rağmen köy derneklerinin toplumsal bütünlüğün sağlanmasındaki önemini gözler önüne sunmaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe subject of the research “Hometown Associations in Kızılcahamam From Their Foundation To Now: The Case of Beşkonak Village” is the vast internal migration in Kızılcahamam in 1960’s, foundation of the hometown associations in Kızılcahamam district of Ankara, their activities and their impacts on the village. In this study, Beşkonak Village Association, which is founded in 1975 and became official in 2014, is examined and interviews are made with its present chairman, its founder and one of its members. In this context, the purpose of this project is examining the working principle of hometown association by way of Beşkonak Village Association, revealing its interactions between village and villager, and offering the importance of hometown associations on providing social integrity.en_US
