dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstract1950'li yıllarda Yugoslavya'da, milliyetçi akımların da iyice artmasıyla ortaya çıkan düzensiz ve karışık bir hava hâkimdi. Birden fazla ulus beraber yaşamaktaydı. Bu da bir takım sorunlara yol açmaktaydı. Dönemin başkanı Tito'nun izlediği politikalar göçlerde ve farklı etnik gruplar arasındaki gerilimde oldukça etkili olmuştur. Bu politikalar birçok Müslüman vatandaşın göç etmesine sebep olmuş ve beraberinde birçok zorluk da getirmiştir. Bunların yanında, o dönemde Yugoslavya'dan Türkiye'ye göçmek zorunda kalmış olan Yıldırım Ailesi'nin yaşadıkları, Türkiye'de nasıl karşılandıkları, ne tür zorluklar çektikleri; o dönemi ve ülkelerin politikalarını anlamak açısından önemlidir. Bu makalede Yıldırım Ailesi özelinde yaşanılan zorluklar, dönemin siyasi ve toplumsal durumu ele alınacaktır.
dc.description.abstractIn the 1950s, there was a chaotic and disordered atmosphere in Yugoslavia, which emerged with the rise of nationalist movements. The coexistence of multiple nations living together, brought about many problems. The policies of Tito, the president of the period, were influential in the migration and tension between different ethnic groups. These policies have caused many Muslim citizens to emigrate and have brought many difficulties. Furthermore, Yıldırım Family was compelled to migrate from Yugoslavia to Turkey. How they were welcomed in Turkey, what had they been experienced and what type of challenges that they had encounter is crucial for understanding that time and states' policies in the 1950s. In this research paper, challanges that Yıldırım Family had encountered, political and socilogical atmosphere at that time will be expressed.
