dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractYüzme yakın geçmişte insan hayatına giren bir spordur. Yüzme ilk olarak on yedinci yüzyılda spor olarak yapılmaya başlanmış ve ilk yüzme yarışı 1846 yılında Avustralya'da yapılmıştır. Türkiye'ye ise yüzme sporu profesyonel anlamda 1873 yılında gelmiştir. Yüzme sporunun geçmişten bugüne Türkiye'deki değişimi incelendiğinde birçok diğer sporda da olduğu gibi yüzme sporunda da kadın ve erkeğin rolü farklılık göstermektedir. Bu farklılık hakkında bilgi sahibi olabilmek için o dönemin sporcuları yol gösterici olabilir. Emine Aksoy Aşit, 1971 doğumlu İzmirli bir profesyonel yüzücüdür. Emine Aksoy Aşit'in profesyonel yüzme hayatı 1980 yılında İzmir'deki Denizspor kulübünde başlamıştır. Türkiye Yüzme Milli Takımında birçok yarışmaya katılmış ve çeşitli dereceler almıştır. Şu anda da spor hayatına master yüzücü olarak devam etmektedir. Yüzme sporunun Türkiye'deki değişimi incelenmek istendiğinde bir diğer bakılacak etken ise Türkiye Yüzme Federasyonudur. Daha öncesinde Su Sporları Federasyonuna bağlı olan Yüzme Federasyonu 1957 yılında kendi özerk federasyonuna ayrılmıştır. Yüzme sporunun ve Yüzme Federasyonunun tarihini anlayabilmek için yardımcı olabilecek bir diğer unsur ise yüzme antrenörleridir. Onların yüzme sporu ve Yüzme Federasyonu hakkındaki görüşleri bu konunun anlaşılmasında yardımcı olabilir.
dc.description.abstractSwimming is a sport that has recently entered the human life. Swimming first began to be held as a sport in the seventeenth century, and the first swimming race was held in Australia in 1846. Swimming came to Turkey professionally in 1873. As with many other sports, the role of men and women in swimming is different too. In order to learn about this difference, the athletes of that period can be the guide. Emine Aksoy Aşit born in 1971 is a professional swimmer from Izmir. Emine Aksoy Aşit's professional swimming life began in 1980 at Denizspor club in Izmir. She has participated in many competitions in the Turkish Swimming National Team and has received various degrees. Currently, she continues her sports career as a master swimmer. Another factor to be looked at to understand the development of swimming in Turkey is the Turkish Swimming Federation. Previously affiliated to the Aquatics Federation, The Swimming Federation was split into its own autonomous federation in 1957. Another element that can help to understand the history of the sport of swimming and The Swimming Federation is swimming coaches. Their views on the sport of swimming and The Swimming Federation can help in understanding this issue.
