dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye Cumhuriyeti ve Yunanistan arasındaki nüfus sorunları ile ilgili Lozan Antlaşması’nda kararlar alındı. Bu kararlar sonrası gerçekleşen göç hareketlerinin toplumsal ve kültürel yaşama büyük ölçüde etkileri oldu. Selanik’teki Türklerin Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ne iskân etme süreci ve bu süreçte yaşanan çeşitli zorluklar ele alındı. Bu zorunlu göç sebebiyle Türkiye’ye gelen Eren ailesinin karşılaştığı durumlar yansıtıldı. Eren ailesinin göç öncesi Selanik’teki yaşamı, mübadele süreci ve sonrasında gelen uyum sürecini nasıl geçirdikleri anlatıldı. Sürecin topluma ve sonraki nesillere aktarımı da araştırıldı.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe dilemma of population between the Republic of Turkey and Greece was concluded in The Lausanne accord. Migrations, occured after the decisions made in the Lausanne, had a great influence on both the social and cultural structures of both societies. Both the settlement of Turks came from Thessaloniki to Turkey and the complications appeared on the process were examined. The adversity Eren family experienced when they arrived in Turkey as a result of the migration were externalized. The lifestyle of Eren family in Thessaloniki before the process of exodus, the process of migration and how Eren family handled the adaptation process were determined. The impact of the process on both society and future generations was investigated as well.en_US
