dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractİşçi göçleri, Türkiye’den yurt dşına göçlerde yaygın olan bir uygulama olmakla birlikte göç konusunda önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu yüzden, bu projede işçi göçleri hakkında araştırmalar yapılmış ve konuya açıklık getirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Proje, Konya’daki Kulu ve Cihanbeyli ilçelerinde yaşayan Uyar ve Yalçın ailelerinin Avrupa’daki belli ülkelere (Fransa ve Almanya) yaptıkları işçi göçleri ele alınarak yapılmıştır. Projenin ilk bölümünde Kulu ve Cihanbeyli’nin göç öncesindeki durumu ve Uyar-Yalçın ailelerinin göç öncesindeki durumları ve göçe hazırlanış süreci hakkında bilgi aktarılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra Uyar ve Yalçın ailelerini göçe iten nedenler incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde göç sürecinde yaşananlar ve Uyar-Yalçın ailesinin göç etme sürecinde karşılaştıkları durumlar hakkında araştırma yapılmış ve bu projede sunulmuştur. Üçüncü bölümde Kulu ve Cihanbeyli’den göç eden ailelerin Avrupa’daki yaşamları ve deneyimleri, ailelerin göç ettikleri zamanda Avrupa’nın durumu ve göç edenlerin psikolojileri hakkında röportaj ve araştırma yapılarak bilgi toplanmıştır. Uyar ailesinin uyum sürecinde yaşadıkları zorluklar ve olaylar aktarılmıştır. Son bölümde ise göç sonrasında Cihanbeyli ve Kulu’nun genel durumu, Cihanbeyli’de yaşayan Yalçın ailesinden geride kalanların yaşantıları, göçlerin bu iki ilçeye ve vatandaşlara olan etkisi hakkında bir araştırma ve söyleşi yapılıp projeye aktarılmıştır. Projenin genel amacı Cihanbeyli ve Kulu’dan gerçekleşen işçi göçlerinin nedenleri ile sonuçlarını netleştirmek ve Uyar-Yalçın ailelerinin göç sürecinde yaşadıklarını anlatmaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractAlong with labor migration being a practice widespread practice in emigration from Turkey, it has an important place in the field of migration. Therefore, in this project, researches have been made on labor migration and the subject has been tried to be clarified. The project was carried out by considering the labor migration of Uyar and Yalçın families living in Kulu and Cihanbeyli districts in Konya to certain countries in Europe (France and Germany). In the first part of the project, information was given about the situation of Kulu and Cihanbeyli before migration and the status of Uyar-Yalçın families before migration and the preparation process for migration. In the second part, a research was made on the process of migration and the situations Uyar-Yalçın have been through during and after the migration and were presented in this project. In the third part, interviews and research were conducted about the lives and experiences of families who migrated from Kulu and Cihanbeyli in Europe, the situation in Europe at the time of their migration and the psychology of the migrants. The difficulties and events experienced by the Uyar family during the adaptation process were presented. And in the last part, a research and an interview were done about the general situation of Cihanbeyli and Kulu after the migration, the lives of the rest of the Uyar family living in Cihanbeyli and Kulu, and the impact of migration on these two districts and its citizens were conveyed to the project. The overall aim of the project is to clarify the causes and the results of worker migration and to give readers an insight about what Uyar-Yalçın families went through during migration process.en_US
