dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı 1954 yılında kurulmuştur. Lüleburgaz’daki doğal gaz çalışmalarına 1960’lı yıllarda başlamış, ilerleyen yıllarda ilçe ve Trakya özelinde açtığı doğal gaz kuyuları ile bölgenin kalkınmasında rol oynamıştır. Bölgenin doğal gaz konusunda zenginliği fark edildikten sonra, 1984 yılında Lüleburgaz’da TPAO Trakya Bölge Müdürlüğü kurulmuş ve çalışmalar daha verimli hale getirilmiştir. İlçede elde edilen doğal gaz, çevredeki sanayi kuruluşları başta olmak üzere çeşitli alanlarda kullanılmıştır. Lüleburgaz’da olumlu sonuçlar alınmasının ardından, TPAO Trakya dışında da doğal gaz arama-bulma çalışmalarını hızlandırmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda yurt dışında çalışmalar yapılmış ve bu çalışmalar günümüzde de devam etmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractTürkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı was established in 1954. TPAO started its natural gas exploration and extraction works in Lüleburgaz in the 1960s and played a significant role in the development of the region in the following years with the natural gas wells that it drilled in the Lüleburgaz and in Thrace. After the region's wealth in natural gas was recognized, TPAO's Thrace Regional Directorate was established in Lüleburgaz in 1984 and the works got more productive. Natural gas obtained from the district has been used in various fields, especially in the surrounding industrial enterprises. After positive results were obtained in Lüleburgaz, TPAO also accelerated its natural gas exploration works outside of Thrace. With this purpose, studies have been conducted abroad and these studies continue today.en_US
