dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye’nin ünlü mimarlarından biri olan Erkut şahinbaş, 1936 yılında dünyaya gelmiş Tarsus Amerikan Koleji’nde lise eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra Orta Doğu Teknik üniversitesi Mimarlık Fakültesi’nin ilk mezunlarındazn biri olmuştur. Eğitim hayatı boyunca hem çeşitli anılar biriktirmiş hem de zorluklarla başa çıkmış olan şahinbaş, mezun olduktan sonra da hem yurt içinde hem yurt dışında çalışma imkanı bulup her iki alanda da önemli projeler tasarlamıştır. Kendisinin Bilkent üniversitesi Kampüs’ünde de ödüllü binaları bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Erkut şahinbaş’ın mimarlık mesleğine adımları, okul hayatında yaşadıkları ve mezuniyet sonrası izlediği süreçte yurt içinde ve yurt dışında hayata geçirdiği çeşitli projeler incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractErkut şahinbaş, who is one of Turkey’s leading architects, was born in 1936 and was one of the first graduates of Middle East Technical University Faculty of Architecture. He has collected many memories and overcome several challenges throughout his educational years. After he graduated, he had the opportunity to work in Turkey and abroad, and has designed several leading projects both in Turkey and abroad. He has designed some awarded buildings in Bilkent University, too. In this study we investigated Erkut şahinbaş’ steps to the profession of architecture, his memories from his educational years and the challenges he has overcome, and the projects he designed both abroad and in Turkey.en_US
