dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractODTÜ Elektrik - Elektronik Mühendisliği Bölümü, 1958 yılında kurulmuştur. Yurt dışında doktoralarını tamamlayan öğrencilerin ODTÜ EEMB’ye geri gelmesi ile zaman içerisinde eğitim kalitesi yükselmiştir. Döneminin siyasi sıcaklığı ve yaşanan siyasi olaylar, genel olarak tüm üniversiteyi ve direkt olarak bölümü olumsuz etkilemiştir. 12 Mart Muhtırası, 12 Eylül Darbesi ve pek çok diğer siyasi olay sonucu yapılan boykotlara rağmen ODTÜ EEMB, eğitimi telafi etmek için çözümler üretmiştir. ODTÜ EEMB mezunları üniversitede aldıkları yüksek eğitim sayesinde birçok şirkette çalışma imkanı bulabilmiş, aynı zamanda birçok başka şirketin ve fabrikanın da kuruculuğuna yardımcı olmuşlardır. ODTÜ EEMB Türkiye’de başka elektrik-elektronik bölümlerinin de kurulmasında öncü olmuş, elektrik mühendisliğinin Türkiye’de gelişmesinde ve yayılmasında önemli bir etkisi olmuştur.en_US
dc.description.abstractMETU Electrical - Electronics Engineering was founded in 1958. With students returning to METU who had done their doctorates abroad, the quality of education increased substantially. Political heat and political acts of its time negatively affected the university as a whole and the faculty directly. Despite the 12 March Memorandum, the 12 September Coup and many more boycotts, METU came up with creative solutions to make up for the education. Thanks to the high-level education they received in the university, graduates of METU EEE had the opportunity to work in many companies and they also helped with creating many factories and companies. METU EEE led to the establishment of other electrical - electronics engineering faculties in Turkey and had an important role in the improvement and spread of electrical engineering in Turkey.en_US
