dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAbdullah Kızılırmak, 16 şubat 1925’te doğmuştur. 1947’de lisans eğitimini tamamlayıp, 1960’ta doktora ve 1966’da profesörlük ünvanını almıştır. 1957’de Rümeysa Kızılırmak ile evlenmiştir ve bu evlilikten iki çocucuğu olmuştur. çok sayıda makale ve kitabın yanında bir terim sözlüğü ve bir gök atlası yazmıştır. Ege üniversitesinde 1963 ve 1975 yılları arasında 10 yıl bölüm başkanlığı yapıp Fırat üniversitesinde Fen Fakültesi kurucu dekanlığı yapmıştır. 1976’dan 1981’e kadar Ege üniversitesinde Fen Fakültesi dekanlığı yapıp dönemin darbeci hükümeti tarafından görevden alınmış ve 1983’te hayatını kaybetmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAbdullah Kızılırmak was born on February 16, 1925. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1947, proceeded to get his doctoral degree in 1960 and later professional degree in 1966. He married Rümeysa Kızılırmak in 1957 and had 2 kids with her. Along with many books and scientific articles, he also wrote a glossary of terms and a stellar cartography. He acted as the head of department in Ege University for 10 years between 1963-1975 and then became the founding dean of the faculty of sciences in Fırat University. Kızılırmak went on to become the dean of the faculty of sciences in Ege University and carried out his duties until he was removed by the authorities. He died in December, 1983.en_US
